Location is key. Noisy bars where a reunion-hired DJ refuses to turn down his loud music (because
he's the center of attention, not the people you want to converse with whom you haven't seen in years) happen.
And who wants to go to a bar, even for a planned reunion, if you're on the wagon?
Cost can be a factor. Groups in our area plan reunions coinciding with HS Homecoming Games, so people who can't afford a costly party meet in a designated area of the stadium before/during the game. Some area schools have re-built, and offer free tours of their new facilities to alumni during reunion weekends.
