LOL! Why did I just say this to a young girl today, rather tongue-in-cheek, of course, but still ...
She stopped me in the Starbucks saying, "Excuse me! I noticed you're an AKA, and I've always wanted to be an AKA, too. Could you tell me what your experience was like ..." Mind you, she was sitting with about four or five other young ladies (who all just happened to be Caucasian). I asked her what college was she attending, and she answered, "Wellllllll, .... I'm thinking about going somewhere out in L.A." In other words, she had more preference for a sorority than where she plans to acquire her academic education. I told her that if she's considering a school in L.A., just make sure there was a chapter of my sorority located on the campus. I then asked, "Tell me when do you begin college?" She sheepishly looked at her friends, then giggled the words, "Well, I have about four years before then ..."
Not knowing what to say next, I said, "Oh, well don't worry dear, ... you LOOK like an AKA, so you should have no problem," and I quickly walked away. ~SMH~
