Well first off, you should be contacting guys now for rush. The Summer is the time to get in contact. The events are moreso for stragglers. By the time rush week starts, you should already have a solid group of guys wanting to join already. Way I see the events are a place for these guys you've been contacting to get to meet more brother's. The events should encourage brother's to show up.
