I am a Fiji (Phi Gam) advisor, and with this kid's attitude, I can't imagine any chapter of any worth wanting him to be able to affiliate. I often tell guys who transfer that they are like "rushees" again; they need to put their best foot forward and impress the new chapter by making a good impression. It's always important to feel wanted, but it's also important to realize that there is no free ride--life is about how we act and how those actions are perceived and then how we are treated based on those perceptions.
As for the "owl chapter" thing, our mascot is and always has been the snowy white owl; it's on our crest. But in all the years I have been a Fiji (over 40), and all the years I have advised in one capacity or another (over 25), I have not heard of the title of "owl chapter" as a top chapter. Now it could be a regional or state title that someone has come up with to deliniate a high-functioning group, but it's news to me.
I might have--at some point--excused this young man's attitude as being a bandage for being fearful of transferring and not being accepted, but his comments about community service and general demeanor make me wonder why he was pledged in the first place. Also, I have to wonder if he is, indeed, an initiated member of Phi Gamma Delta. (NOTE: When I first looked at his site, I PM'ed him to offer assistance from an advisor's experience; he has declined to contact me as of yet.)
