I think the greatest blow will be to the Republican Party, who has lost its senior minority senate member. He was the perfect front, and Republicans will have to rely on Gen Powell to further their minority agenda.
While it was a political coupe, I am hard pressed to find any tears at his leaving. We have come to far to subjugate ourselves to the "puppet" staus, especially when get to a point when we could make a difference.
