While I was sad, I read somewhere that Coulson is to appear in Iron Man 3, and we never did see the medics call ToD.
On an unrelated note, I loved Maria Hill. And the larger part Coulson had. And seeing the Avengers first assemble. And Seeing the Hulk grin when Cap told him to smash. Pretty much enjoyed the whole thing.
The geek in me though had one slight disappointment. There was not once used the term "Avengers Assemble." But can't have everything.
