Oh, yes, dogs! We used to find stray dogs all the time. Almost always managed to get them back to their owners.
Right after the last big earthquake in Los Angeles (I think it was 1994) I found a stray shih-tzu. There were so many lost dogs and cats. I put up fliers but didn't hear anything for about two weeks. I don't remember taking her to a vet to see if she was microchipped so I'm wondering how long they've been in regular use. I finally got a call from an elderly woman in a different part of town. It wasn't likely but she was hoping that I had her little dog, Gizmo. Sadly, it was not Gizmo but no one had claimed her so she went home with the woman. It still makes me sad that I wasn't able to find that dog's owner. I'd be absolutely devastated if I lost my dog.
