This was about a year ago. One night I left my wallet in the upper part of a shopping cart. It was dark out so I didn't notice it when I put the cart away. (How do I know that's where I left it? I had done the same thing about 6 months earlier. I realized I had left it behind and fortunately my wallet was still there when I drove back.) So this time I hadn't noticed that I left it behind. I get a call from my sister in California (to me in Illinois) and she tells me someone found my wallet...and I'm thinking "someone in
California found my wallet?"
Duh.
No, apparently a woman in my neighborhood found my wallet, looked for a phone number in it, found my sister's number and called her. My sister gave me her number, I called and this woman was so incredibly nice. She drove right up to my building to give me my wallet. I was grateful beyond words!
Years ago I found a man's credit card. I called the 800 number on the back of the card and then cut it up and tossed it.
Other than that, I've never found anything valuable.
