Tonight my elementary teacher husband and I are going to attend an excellence dessert with our daughter and her French teacher. The top 10% of each local graduating class is invited to attend, and bring the teacher who most influenced them over the years. There will be over 300 people there, and I'm really looking forward to seeing all these hard-working teachers and students honored for their efforts!

I really like this idea. I think that everyone has at least one teacher from all their years in school that made a difference academically speaking. For me, it was my eighth grade English/Social Studies teacher. She had previously taught high school English, so that is what she taught us. We had a reading list of 15+ novels (I found the actual list a few years ago). I also had to write a 20 page term paper with full bibliography and footnotes. Even though my mom did the typing and the editing, it made freshman English easy and I never had any problems with reading or writing in the future. Math was another story ...
