Dexter, I feel what you are saying. I can join the chorus and tell you that you did the right thing. However, I can understand where you are coming from with feeling like your manhood has been challenged in some sort of way. I can't say that I know what that feels like for a man, but I can SYMPATHIZE because I KNOW how it feel to be a woman.
On a daily, women have to deal with that feeling. There are men out there that feel like they can step to you any kind of way. Some men feel like they can put their hands on your body just because. When we try to check and/or turn down their advances, we are verbally assaulted and called EVERYTHING but a child of God. Life is not like in movies where women straight up stand up to the disrespect and slap a man's face or kick him where the sun doesn't shine, etc. We have to suck it up and move on. Where I am from, men have NO PROBLEM shooting women or even physically attacking them.
I know what you might be feeling. You are wondering if you did the wrong thing. You try to think of if there was a better way to handle the situation. You wonder if you should have just gone ahead and whipped his a$$. You ask yourself, "what if he didn't have gun and I could have taken him in a fair fight?" So many scenerios must be playing in your mind. However, your BETTER judgment took over and told you to walk away. DO NOT regret that decision.
Some people like to look for confrontation. Why else would he just hop out and start a fight with the little one? A RESPECTABLE MAN would not have been phased by him talking to a GROUP of women. But he had to show his "manhood" for his friends and try to clown. He only did that because he was in a group. It could have been that they were just cruising to start trouble. I don't know of many people that are going to challenge a guy of your size unless they know that their boys have their back or they have some other form of assistance (in this case, a gun).
You are entitled to have some time sulk, but don't let it consume you. The devil would have LOVED to make a statistic of an educated and intelligent husband and father. But you shamed him! Hold your head up and KNOW that you are BETTER than that madness. If someone would have told that to those brothers, the situation would have never happened.
