A few years ago, my mom told me the real story behind my first word. I always believed it was "Daddy" at 10 months. Apparently, I attempted to sit down on a plastic chair when I was about 6 months old. I slipped off onto the floor and said "Sh*t!" out of frustration. She said she wasn't sure if she should be shocked at the word itself or just the fact I said a discernable word at that age. Unfortunately, I didn't learn any more words until I was 10 months so they had to deal with 4-ish months of that being the only word I knew.

She said never told me because I was always so offended by curse words and might be embarrassed by that story. Once I was in my early 20s and a little looser with language, she thought it was safe to come clean.
