Job stability is absolutely a thing of the past. The days of a job for life are long gone and will probably never return. I thought my job was safe until a few weeks ago when I got a nasty surprise. And it seems that no one is hiring! What can you do... other than continue to keep an eye out for employment opportunities, even if you are employed.
My fiances' firm recently merged with (or should I say taken over by) another firm. Since then, he has heard lie after lie after lie. He would see a person one day, then their office would be locked up the next 'cause they got the boot!! There is absolutely no stability at his job. There was a woman who worked there for at least 25 years and she was just fired last Friday morning (they could have just told the woman on Thursday evening). My fiance has been looking for a new job for a while and has come up with nothing so far. He has a college degree and a lot of experience in his field.

So sad.....
