Whenever I go to church I always jot down notes, the book, and verse, so I can look it up when I get home. I do it just to gain more knowledge that can help me through life and when I interact with other people. Today, my pastor was talking about "foolish people" and how people like that are pretty much right in their own eyes. He said "a discussion is an exchange of knowledge; an argument is an exchange of ignorance". He told us he couldn't remember where he heard the quote from, so when I got home I looked it up. Here's what I found.
You argue when you want to win
For your views worthy of dust bin
Argument is seldom without facts
Only bitterness that it attracts.
When you discuss you share
When you argue you don't care
Just want to prove you are superior
With your knowledge so inferior.
When you argue you appear like a fool
Like a drop out from a school
Fisting your hand to prove a point
With your behaviour you disappoint.
Bad men argue good men share
Winning or loosing good men don't care
Discussion is for the healthy mind
It's the truth that you strive to find.
There is thin line between discussion and argument. Discussion is sharing knowledge and argument is when you wish to prove that the knowledge you share is the only right thing. You argue when you have half knowledge, you discuss with facts, data and statistics. Anger is never without an argument but never with a good one.
