I think I know where you are. I would give it another shot. However, I would keep a more open mind. You rejected two sororities who invited you to join them, and that may be more of a negative than the fact that you're going to be a junior.
As far as your RA & your boyfriend's discussion, I wouldn't believe a word that came out of her mouth. There's no way in a sorority of 55 girls (unless she didn't participate in rush at all because she's an RA) that you don't know EXACTLY who did and didn't get to pref. My guess is that she was trying to sugar coat things so working w/ him isn't awkward.
