"Bridesmaids" co-writer Annie Mumolo, nommed for original screenplay, said it was important to her and co-writer Kristen Wiig that the film deliver big laughs that were rooted in the theme of friendship. Producer Judd Apatow was invaluable in helping them maintain that focus.
"Our main objective was to write a film that focused about relationships and friendships. We really tried to focus on that when writing this," Mumolo says. Apatow "is a creative producer and his influence really helped us when we were writing this film. I think that really shows in the final product."
