I am friends with many Pike men on my campus and have nothing but respect for them. They have the stigma of being "meat heads" and "gym addict,"but they dispell those ideas by attaining some of the highest GPA's quarterly amongst not only other Greek organization but all campus organization period.
They take the overgeneralizations and SHOW people that they are more than what they are given credit for.
I know you have been preached to countless times and I will apoligize in advance for creating any redundancy on this board. But honestly, when a misguided college woman confronts you with the date rape stereotype and in return you "make some rude comment about her face,boobs, ass or clothes" you aren't dispelling that rumor, but creating a new one that Pikes are assholes. You said yourself that one speaks for many. So why do your chapter wrong and leave a girl, especially a sorority girl with a bad taste in her mouth with respect to ALL Pikes? Because as much as we like to say we are open minded and whatnot, I have seen too many times a girl get her heart broken by or be offended by one guy in a chapter and write the entire chapter off for having any affiliation with the offendor. And trust me, she will bring quite a few girls with her on her anti-XYZ campaign.
I know that a chapter on my campus had the same GHB and date rape rumors flying around about them, but I vehemently defended the chapter simply because I knew quite a few guys in the house and they were gentlemen. Obviously this prompted me to defend them amongst my sisters.
So it's your choice. I hope you will choose to service your chapter and allow girls to see that your brothers are the best because not only are they "hot," but respectable. I know you have the capability to do this.
