I went to the WSU website. It does say he was 14 at the time, so he wouldn't have been able to commit the crime, but according to Wikipedia he was born in 1946 and this happened in 1971 so as VandalSquirrel stated, he would, in fact, have been 25....hmmm....interesting and mysterious. Curious as to why the WSU website indicates he was 14.
I looked him up on Wiki and apparently he tried to kill one girl at UW (she barely survived), did kill another UW student, killed a Central Washington student and one from OSU. He left a trail in several states, so it is certainly in the realm of possibility that he made it to WSU. I suppose it's unlikely will ever know for sure since he's no longer in a position to confess.
At any rate, she was told he did and it appears that is uncertain.
