My school (and this was four years ago, so maybe it changed) would have all the girls show up at a certain time, like say 11 am. Girls who hadn't gotten bids had been called previously by Greek life, but it was VERY unusual for a girl to go through pref parties, fill out a card and not get a bid.

The Greek life folks would have a table with the bids organized alphabetically, and all the sororities would be arranged around the room (we only had five). Generally they'd have bid day shirts and goody bags. So a girl would get her bid and then go over to the chapter.

That was OK. What I hated, hated, HATED was Panhellenic pledging. All the chapters would meet about a week later, the Rho Chis would be unmasked, and each chapter's new members would stand up in front of everyone while their chapter sang to them. It was always like, "Ooh, they didn't get very many ...." "Oh, they got all the pretty girls," ... "Gee, what's with all the sluts in that class?"
