I get why people don't get Tumblr at first glance. It looks complicated, but it's really simple to use once you get the hang of it. You basically create your own blog with a unique URL. You can make it as detailed or as simple as you want. You don't really have to be HTML-smart to do it either. Then you find people to follow, whether they are people you know or random people who post things you like. You can track tags, which just helps to separate the content into categories that interest you. Most people's Tumblrs are photo-blogs, but there are also music blogs and regular blogs.
