I would be interesting to know (and we may never) if some or all of the pledges are, in fact, MTV "ringers."
That would certainly be one way of advancing intrigue and control the storyline, wouldn't it?
And, (trying very hard not to sound sexist) while there are some very attractive active sisters, the "pledges," for the most part are pretty good looking women. Did MTV recruit them?
I also wonder if it is normal to have men at a rush event, or if that is an MTV invention. Rules certainly could be different at UCD.
I think 33girl was pretty well right on target for the reason for the "pledge house." It is also an easy way to segregate the "PNM's" and could allow MTV to shape the storyline without having the actives around all of the time to interfere. I mean, why in heaven's name would you allow (let alone force) a group that is supposed to be learning about the sorority live together pretty much without supervision. Isn't that asking for acrimony? Not only between the pledges -- who hardly know each other, let alone the actives -- but also with the chapter itself? And, doesn't it invite breaking of the rules? I think you could start to see that storyline develop, particularly in the tease video for the next show.
We'll see.
Finally, while I still think allowing this videotaping was a mistake, I'm really pleased, for the most part (nobody's perfect) with the way the Sigma sisters handled themselves. They came off to me as women who care deeply about their organization.
