I get the sentiment. Of course Penn State is more than this and has
lots to be proud of. I doubt anyone here thinks otherwise.
That said, SWTXBelle is right: This is not a "so-called scandal." It is a full-blown scandal. A
huge scandal. You claim to honor the victims here, but how can you honor them when you diminish the significance of what happened to them by calling it a "so-called scandal"?
And really, I just have to say this -- I find it significant that the first positive thing you list is that Penn State is "A BIG TEN UNIVERSITY." I really don't think I'm alone in believing that part of the problem here is the way big-time college sports has all too often become the tail wagging the dog, so this just hits a nerve with me. I love college sports as much as the next guy, but there has been a complete loss of perspective on way too many campuses.
