When I've completed work on a committee, I've received the following:
a pen
a travel mug
a business card case
a notepad holder
I tend not to have much room for framed certificates--I keep them, but if they're framed I use the frame for something else and keep the paper in folders.
Please note that these all have the organization/institution's logo or insignia in a discreet way. These aren't Bic pens--the pen I got is a Cross pen that's pretty lovely. I think most of the stuff is about $20-25 each. One of the organizations I volunteered with was German-affiliated and they gave out Mercedes-Benz stuff as thank-you gifts to volunteers. That was sweet.
