Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. will host its 49th International Boule, July 20-25. The meeting will convene at the Hyatt Regency Miami at Miami Convention Center. Members will review programs and projects of the last two years. They also will network, train, hold elections and strategize for future activities.
A highlight of the Boule is the Public Program. The Honorable Maxine Waters (D), US House of Representatives, 35th Congressional District, California has accepted the invitation to be featured speaker at the organization's Public Program, Sunday, July 21 at 6:00PM. She is the sister of Soror Dr. Kim Moore. Waters is considered by many to be one of the most powerful women in American Politics today. She has gained a reputation as a fearless and outspoken advocate for women, children, people of color and poor people.
A special presentation will be made at the program to the Rowell Foster Children's Positive Plan which sponsors foster children specifically study ballet, music and sports as well as creating job opportunities for emancipated foster youth. The founder and advocate is actress Victoria Rowell of The Young and Restless and Diagnosis Murder fame. Ms. Rowell is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.
Soror Jedda Jones, better known as Miss Dupree will be guest entertainer at the Annie Neville Talent and Step Show on Saturday, July 20. Miss Dupree is a personality on the Tom Joyner Morning Show. She is also legacy--her daughter is an active Soror.
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. will present R & B Singer and Producer Tank in concert on Monday, July 22.
Also in attendance will be Soror Mother Love and others. There are others be announced.
A post-Boule cruise to the Bahamas will conclude the week.
