(I won't comment on the bromance between Tavis Smiley and Cornel West. West went after Obama over Smiley. LOL.)
This doesn't specifically pertain to 9-9-9 but provides a context for some of responses to Cain's proposal. Some people view him as ignorant of social class differences; and social class is highly correlated with race and ethnicity to the point where it is synonymous for many social phenomena. As always, many people are a lot less tolerant of an African American man who they consider a staunch Conservative.
I think it is interesting to see this issue from different perspectives.
