Whew, sorry I haven’t updated you all week! Two exams and two papers were due this week, can you say welcome to college??
So anyways, the next day in my marathon was the 6 party day. We were able to start a little bit later today since we had fewer parties to go to and that meant more time for me to sleep in!! After our usual morning meeting with our Rho Gamma, it was time to receive our schedules! Here we go:
Alex
Christina
Teddy
Meredith
When I saw my schedule for the day I could have sworn there was a mistake, only 4 houses?? I am not going to lie about how I felt, it was devastating. Some of the houses that I for sure thought were my favorites and that had gone really well we no longer on my schedule. What I was most devastated about was not being invited to Owen. I had fallen in love with this house which I knew was not a good thing, but I couldn’t help but love all the girls there. Luckily for me, my schedule allowed me to have a break first thing. I was able to hold it together until I got to my room and then I let my self-go. I had had such a drastic cut, and in my eyes, it made me feel like a failure. My mom was still on campus because she was making some last minute errands for me and I ended up calling her and she came right over. We talked it over and I composed myself and started accepting the fact that I didn’t get invited back and just to move on! It was hard, but my mom asked me if I would have wanted to be invited back by girls who didn’t like me. Of course not! It was time to move on and be happy about the houses that
DID want me back because they could see me becoming one of their sisters!
Today on the agenda for all the houses was to get tours of the house and go over the financial side of things for the particular house. I was told my mother to not let the finances of the house sway my decisions, so it was very informative to have them go over that, but I won’t go into great detail about that stuff, mostly what I liked about the houses.
Alex- First of the day! Once again, they had one active paired with two PNMs. I had learned to get over that and was used to it from this house. Still wasn’t my favorite mingling method, but what are you going to do? While we were touring this house, something that really stuck out to me that I really like was that they didn’t have any cold airs. For those of you who don’t know what a cold air is, it is a large room with everyone’s beds (usually bunk beds), and it is always dark and always cold. It is where everyone has their own bed and they all sleep in that same room. There is usually one cold air on each floor. So like I said, Alex did not have cold airs and it was just two girls per room. I liked that they had privacy and only one other person living there. The whole house is air conditioned, so that was a major plus too! The whole rest of the house didn’t really stand out to me, it was pretty boring architecturally and the living room was just too fancy looking for me. Like I couldn’t lounge around in sweats if I wanted to. This house had some pluses and minuses. The conversations I had with the girls here today were also lacking.
Christina-Christina’s house is going through a redecorating transition one floor at a time. The floors that were done looked amazing; every thing seemed so updated and sleek. Loved the natural colors of the rooms and the simplicity. Christina did have cold airs but a feature that the cold airs have is if you are on the bottom bunk, there is a curtain type thing that goes around the bed so that it seems less like you are in a room with a bunch of people. I didn’t learn about that until at I got to Christina. I really love to grand look to the house when you are on the outside, it is so pretty! Overall, I would not have any problems living in this house and my conversations were also really good again today in this house. Getting good vibes from Christina!
Teddy- Yayyyyyyy back at Teddy! The first thing I would like to say about this house is…GORGEOUS. Definitely the most unique on campus and you would feel like a princess if you lived there. The girl that gave me the tour was the best! I haven’t felt a better connection with anyone I had talked to that whole week. She was so down to earth and funny. We joked and talked about legit stuff. I felt really comfortable asking her questions about the cold airs and if she liked them. She said that she couldn’t imagine living any other way and they have only just moved in! Their study room is really nice and they have the wonderful resource we call study files, as do all the sororities on campus! Don’t worry, the professors know about them! I just got an overall good feeling from this house and it seemed really comfortable to live in!
Meredith- I am not going to lie, I am pretty happy that I saw them back on my list. Even though they were in my bottom, I really wanted to give her a second try because I really wanted to like them since I had so much on the first day. Meredith’s house is very nicely set up, and like I said before, they have recently redecorated. A cool fact about the girl who redecorated, they were both interior design majors in the house. How cool is that? They also have the cold airs, and by this time the idea of a cold air is starting to look pretty nice. I love to sleep in the cold and I love that it is completely dark all the time. Can you say perfect napping atmosphere? The outside of the house is a little dull and blocky looking. It doesn’t really look like a homey house. It kind of looks like a business. Today my conversations at this house were so much better! Like they were a complete 180! I loved the girls that I talked to, they were really interested in what I had to say and they were interesting to listen to. So sweet!
Ranking was kind of hard tonight because since I didn’t have a full schedule. I had to choose one to put into my bottom. All of the houses had really stood out to me today but there was one that just didn’t make me feel as comfortable as the others had. The one house that I choose to put in my bottom was:
Alex
My Favorites of the day in no particular order were:
Christina
Teddy
Meredith
I can’t believe that my next post will be Pref Night! Such a big decision is coming up and you won’t want to miss it!
