Alright all, I am back! Seems like I was MIA for awhile there, but not to worry, I have come back with a recruitment story!!

Sixteen Party Day!
Whew! Sixteen houses in one day! Let’s go!

April - First house up! There were some mixed emotions going into the first house of the day and my first house ever! I was so excited but super nervous and really had no idea what to expect. Thankfully, after all the lurking I had done on GC over the summer I knew to at least expect loud chanting and clapping and sure enough 2 minutes after getting lined up the chanting began. As we walked up the front steps it all began to become very surreal. I absolutely LOVED April the second I started talking to the first girl. I really connected with the girl, as we were both the first girls in our respective families to go Greek. She was also a dancer just like me so we didn’t run out of things to talk about! Overall, I felt super comfortable talking to the April girls and they all seemed like the same kind of personality as me and held the same values. This was the perfect way to start off my recruitment experience and I was ready for more!

Owen- I was so excited to go into Owen! I had done some research earlier this summer on all the houses and found that I loved this one. We got ready to go into the house and I had butterflies in my stomach. I talked to 3 girls while I was in this house and felt so comfortable talking to all of them. One girl even mentioned that she loved how confident I was about my future and I wasn’t afraid to speak up, this was a major self-esteem boost! We talked about dance team and dance in general and before we knew it, it was time to head out. As I was walking out the door, one of the girls caught up with me and told me to remind her of my name again because she was wanted to remember it. I thought that was good sign! I had an awesome impression overall of this house and I couldn’t wait to go back!

Meredith- Meredith was next up on the schedule and I was a little apprehensive going into this one. The reason being, earlier that year, my mom and I had taken a tour of this house and thought it seemed a little…. funeral parlorish. Fake flowers everywhere and outdated decorating. I knew that I didn’t want to base my decisions on the house its self but it would play a little factor in my decision. But, to my surprise I walked through the door and was completely taken back! It looked completely different and more updated which was a relief because I absolutely loved all the girls I talked to. I talked to a girl with the same major as me and that was a lot of fun. Another girl and I talked about how she had such a family relationship with her show choir team in high school and that’s when I told her about being the same way with my dance studio and that was one of my main reasons for wanting to go Greek. I left the house feeling like I had made some great connections with the girls and was feeling very confident about this house.

Arizona- After going to 3 houses and having amazing experiences at all of them I was ready for the next! I went into Arizona with an open mind and ready to mingle. I talked to 3 girls at this house and out of the 3 girls I really only felt comfortable talking to 1 of them. The other 2 girls were super nice but they were very awkward to talk to and I just couldn’t carry a conversation with them. The girl that I enjoyed talking to was the VP and we held a pretty good conversation. When it was time to go I was ready. Arizona was somewhat of an awkward house and I couldn’t really picture myself there.

Callie- Before going into this house, I had a preconceived opinion about it. I knew I shouldn’t but I just couldn’t help it. I was hoping that all the girls in the house would turn my opinion around because I really wanted to have an open mind during recruitment. I walked through the doors of Callie and was greeted by all these gorgeous girls. The theme of their house for the day was very clever! I had some pretty good conversations with the girls I talked to, but I felt like I was pulling teeth to get them to ask questions and be engaged. I left the Callie feeling so-so about them and sort of wanted to give them a second try but I wasn’t sure.

Bailey- I was surprised at how much I actually liked Bailey. I figured that I wasn’t the typical Bailey girl, but I found that I had a lot in common with the girls and really enjoyed talking to them. They all loved the flower that I had in my hair and their outfits were supering cute too! We talked a lot about the connections that this particular Bailey had with all her sisters and I loved that she cared about the girls so much. I left the house feeling surprised in a good way and happy.

Mark- I went into this house having a friend that was in it and she absolutely loved it and was always talking about it. I couldn’t wait to go in! All the girls were super sweet and they had one these adorable pink sparkly Toms! I talked to one girl, who was in the university modern dance company, and really got me thinking about joining it, myself! Everything in the house was so bright and fresh and I was so comfortable talking to all of the girls that I did. I left this house feeling really confident about it!

Derek- The first note I had written about Derek was: ABOSUTELY LOVE THIS HOUSE. That basically sums up how I felt about Derek. When I was talking to all of the girls, there were no awkward pauses and the conversation wasn’t forced at all. It felt like I had known these girls forever and we were all best friends. They weren’t your plain Jane conversations, they were super interesting. I couldn’t stop smiling when I walked out of this house; I wanted to go back in so bad!

Teddy- I really liked Teddy!! All the girls that I talked to had so much in common with me, like we had parallel lives! I hadn’t talked to anyone in other houses that were as serious about dance as this girl and I. I loved it! She told me about how close all the girls were in the house and that some of the seniors had a huge “moment” last night and I thought that it was really special and super touching. I really felt the connections that the girls had with each other. I was hoping that Teddy would show up on my schedule tomorrow because I wanted to get to know these girls more!

16-marathon day to continue soon….
