are they doing 40 hours of work during their "time off" that they're doing other stuff? i'll agree, the GOOD teachers put in a lot more work than the minimum, but so does a GOOD fill in the blank i know engineers that work 90 hour weeks. with a work week like that, they're making minimum wage! granted they don't do this all the time, but it's not uncommon to have 60 hour weeks regularly. also, 7-4 is only an 8.5 hour day with the lunch taken out. granted that's more, it's not a huge deal.
like i said before though, i'm not saying teachers don't get what they deserver. there are a lot of teachers though that do little, and want more money/benefits for it.
