Fraternity expansion at Ohio Northern

ONU lost 2 fraternity chapters in the last 5 or so years, one of them this school year, due to a variety of reasons. Most recent was Phi Mu Delta. As a result, ONU is considering fraternity expansion!

Current fraternities are Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Pi, Delta Sigma Phi, Theta Chi and Phi Delta Chi (pharmacy fraternity that functions as a social and as a part of IFC). Sig Pi celebrates 100 years at ONU this upcoming spring, and Sig Ep is the oldest chapter in the state and on campus. Though a small school, greek life represents 20-25% of the student body and is traditionally strong. The recent loss of PMD, Phi Kappa Theta (mid-00's), and Alpha Sigma Phi (mid-90's) has left 3 empty fraternity houses on the popular Fraternity Circle. Only two remain on the circle, the other 3 have house off campus.

Hence the reason for expansion consideration! I'm hoping to find out more at our all chapter advisor meeting later this fall. It's an exciting time though! Our ABC told me it looks like 3 have expressed written interest so far, though she wasn't sure which organizations.
