Hi!
I'm a Kent State sorority alumna (and grad student.) I'm glad you're choosing to go Greek. It's the best choice I ever made and it made a very big university seem like much more of a home.
Every chapter at Kent is amazing. I know people say that, but they really are. They each have amazing events, homes, philanthropies, etc.
My best advice for any PNM is to keep an open mind. If you can openly consider every chapter (and ignore the opinions of other PNMs/your dorm mates/etc.), you stand a good chance at finding a home.
In terms of your class standing, being a sophomore is really not a big deal. There are always many sophs because people tend to transfer in after spending freshman year at a branch campus.
I would suggest visiting the Panhellenic site (http://www.kentsororities.com/recruitment) and find out about Sorority Info Night dates. That's a great opportunity to meet sorority women from every chapter (and sign up for recruitment, meet the women from Panhellenic who will be helping you, etc.)
There will also be women from each sorority at Blast Off this weekend. So be sure to stop by each of their tables and meet people!
Let me know if you have anymore general questions. The website I posted should answer many of them. Good luck to you!
