[aephi alum]

I've read through Sigma's website, and as a couple of people have already pointed out, the only mention of AEPhi is in their history where it's stated that AEPhi used to have a chapter at UC-Davis that closed. I see nothing wrong with their including that factual statement on their site. The Sigmas certainly aren't trying to represent themselves as AEPhis.

But my sister does have a point. People know AEPhi is historically Jewish. People know Sigma was founded as a Jewish-interest sorority. People know AEPhi used to have a chapter at UC-Davis; someone who attended UC-Davis and has been out a few years may not even know it closed. And the letters are very similar (even though they were not chosen to be similar to AEPhi's letters, but rather to AEPi's). So it would be very easy to confuse the two groups - as that DJ did.

Now add in the fact that MTV is very likely to have done some strategic editing to make the Sigmas look like all they do is party, gossip, and have pillow fights in their underwear, and it's easy to see why this show may reflect negatively on AEPhi in particular, in addition to the greek system as a whole.

Please note that I'm not saying the Sigmas *are* only interested in partying, only that MTV may have tried to *portray* them that way.
