My new baby classes WERE attended by my mom as well. And they are very basic, but they are designed to make sure new parents have the correct information. I have Kaiser Permanente and they covered EVERYthing related to my pregnancy. Now my mom helped a lot, but she couldnt tell me anything about breastfeeding, b/c she did not do that with me. She didn't know about birthing options (epidural, etc) b/c she didn't go through any of that with me. Brandy probably just wanted the most information she could get, and it wasnt meant as a slight towards her mom. I"m sure her mom will move in when the baby comes, anyway. To each her own.
The Parenting classes were offered thru my entire pregnancy and went over the baby's growth, body changes, what to expect, when to call the doctor, when to come in, yadda, yadda, yadda. They were very informative to both my mother and myself. these type of classes actually DECREASE insurance costs.
