Now, I have seen them and I did enjoy them, but god almighty all the hype leading up to the movies and the crap I got from friends because I hadn't "seen" them yet. I was like "really, I don't want to". I didn't see the trilogy until after ROTK was released, so I wasn't one of those people who anxiously and impatiently waited for 2 years.

Oh, you mean the
movies. I thought you meant the books. That's different. Granted, I was counting minutes before each of the three movies came out, and they may be the only movies I've ever made plans to go to on opening day, but that's because I love the books so much. And as much as I love the books, I'd be the first to admit that they're a genre of literature people either tend to really like or really not like. My wife (who still hasn't read the books and hasn't seen all the movies) would be more like you.
