Another point is that governments around the world aren't the only entities doing the tracking. People generally expect governments to do some tracking. Even that receives some skepticism and requires citizen awareness so it does not impede our rights or go too far. If not for rights and awareness, governments (that consist of people, even if some of them claim to have God on the mainline) would go batshit crazy, as they more blatatantly have throughout history--but this time using more technology and allowing the aliens and zombies to invade (I kid, I kid
).
As for the sarcastic (I hope) comparison between the government tracking and God. I totally disagree with even a sarcastic analogy. My belief in a Higher Power does not preclude me from saying fuck aspects of the government.
