If they get a record it will be a serious miscarriage of justice. You shouldn't have to carry around that type of burden at that age.

Unfortunately, if they don't have the money for a competent attourney, or the judge doesn't excercise some common sense, they may indeed be scarred for life.

I agree. I think that it is unfortunate that it will take the criminal justice system to teach these girls something that their parents and families should have taught them. They are only fourteen and having a record will definitely adversely affect them for the rest of their lives.
