I am a little concered that you 1) live in Houston and 2) plan to go to Texas, yet you claim that you know NO ONE who is a sorority member/alumna?
And this site, as well as the UT Greek Life site, is chalk-full of the answers that you are looking for. While it is good that you are thinking in terms of getting recs, I would strongly advise just reading this site for awhile, as well as contacting the Houston panhellenic that serves your high school. And quickly. It is possible that deadlines have passed.
