This is what we did during atomic bomb drills back in the day. I thought that an atomic bomb falling on you = someone flying overhead and dropping a cannonball on your head. Hoo boy, those desks would have been real protection but they insisted that we do it because our school was blocks from the Houston airport and people felt that would be a target.
