I come from a Northeast school that doesn't have a super competitive recruitment. It didn't matter what your parents did for a living. I was never asked. Your dad could be a doctor or a ditch digger; your mom could be a lawyer or a stay at home mom. What mattered was
you.
That said, I'd submit a resume that includes the information on the sample resume (heck, I've been asked for my SAT scores when applying for jobs, even though I took the SAT back in the Stone Age when it actually qualified as an IQ test) and add your college GPA and any college activities.
