I was responding to her, and my statement stands: whether you need a lawyer (or insurance) and whether it's in your long term best interest to use a lawyer (or get insurance) are two different questions.
And sisterdawn, I am a lawyer, so I'm speaking from experience of what
can happen when people assume they don't need one. Not what necessarily will happen, but what can.
