Because I'm fortunate to have a job that I enjoy, I can forget about pretty much anything when I'm really into my work. I had a really bad day a few weeks ago where I was dealing with crap and spent the whole morning trying not to burst into tears -- but once I was at work and really concentrating on what I was doing, I forgot about everything else and actually felt almost good.
Other than that, of course, there is always shopping. I'd say running, but that's really more the thing to do when you want to think about something -- it doesn't take your mind off of it, at least not for me. Maybe reading would work -- say, reading a book about something you know nothing about and/or don't understand, so you really have to *think* about it.
