Did fraternities B or C know you were gay? If not, I think it was good for you to turn down those bids. If you're going to be openly gay, then you should warn a chapter about that up front.

If they did know, you should have taken your bid. If you're going to deny being gay and try to pledge somewhere then you should have taken your bid.

I've had fraternity brothers I've known to be gay, but they were not open about it and still aren't beyond a small circle. They were and are great brothers & leaders that I continue to respect. Most chapters are not going to be "open" to an openly gay member. There is a difference between tolerance and taking someone some of the closest relationships you'll ever have. I don't care if it's right or wrong, but it is reality.
