My boyfriend and I grew up about 30 minutes from each other and actually met once in passing about 5 years ago, but neither of us really remembered it.
I reconnected with an old friend about a year ago, and I would go and hang out with her at her job, where he also works. He's really shy, so we didn't talk very much, just conversations with other people. There was something about him that I liked and I wanted to get to know him, but I couldn't get him to crack in person. We started talking more via facebook. One day last May he updated his status about going to a local bar that most of my friends go to. I commented and told him to have a beer for me because my car was in the shop and I didn't have a way to get there. He offered to drive me if I wanted to go, and I accepted the offer.
After that night we hung out a lot, but since we're both pretty shy so neither of us could make the move. Some of our friends helped us out there, and we've been together ever since. =]
