This is an interesting question for Delta Chi since we name our chapters after the host institution.

In terms of the university on the charter I think it would probably change if the recolonizing group were given a new charter.

Chapter name would be a more interesting issue. There are a few variables:
  • With Sample State College/University the chapter name wouldn't matter because it would still be the Sample State Chapter - the "college" or "university" is not usually in the chapter name - i.e. I belong to the George Mason Chapter not the George Mason University Chapter.
  • If the name of the university changed I suppose the recolonizing group would get to choose whether or not they want to use the old or new name. An example, though slightly imperfect since the chapter was not recolonized, is our Tri-State Chapter which was founded at Tri-State University in Indiana. The university has since changed its name to Trine University, but the chapter has chosen to remain the Tri-State Chapter.
