Thanks DubaiSiS, and yeah in hindsight I also wish I had just asked them to go to dinner one night at their house or something but alas I did not do that! (and the shoes in that picture are too much, I agree)

The only other option I can go with is a sweater dress that I have since most of my dresses, while nice, are too summery or flashy (for a party) and would look out of season or out of place ha here is an example of my sweater dress!
EXCEPT my dress is not a turtle neck! simple like "tshirt" neckline
