A little late to the party, but I will try to add what I can.
I am a TCU alumna. While admittedly it has been 15 years since I graduated, I did remain in the DFW area for many years afterwards, so my information isn't terribly outdated. There is truth in what ebdelt told you- some chapters will cut you based on your class standing alone. However, with 11 strong groups on campus there will still be plenty of excellent chapters to choose from. There may be days where you don't have a full party schedule, but don't let that get you down. You can only receive one bid, so it doesn't matter if you have a full party schedule on day 2 or only one chapter on day 2. If that one gives you a bid at the end of recruitment then you are just as much a member of a sorority as everyone else!
As for your spring rush question... back in my day there were only 2-3 chapters that did spring rush, and they did it very quietly. Typically there were only a handful (<5) bids to give, and they went to people who the chapter was already familiar with. I don't think that has changed much, but I will let ebdelt or a few of the other current TCU students address that.
TCU is competitive- you will need 1-2 recs for all chapters. Recognize that everyone going through recruitment will have high grades and strong extracurriculars with tons of leadership. Many are comfortable conversationalists and will present themselves with a polished appearance. That said, for those who keep an open mind (and have a rec to each house) most do find a home.
Best of luck to you. Go Frogs!
