Awwwww.
That reminds me of my friend from youth group's story, it was kind of a "bad day ends with proposal" story.
Her boyfriend had this nice evening planned that included a show at a dinner theater (with her parents/family), where he would propose.
Show is at like 8pm. He tells her to be ready at 7:00 to go to this show (she does not know her parents are coming or anything).
Day of the show comes and someone at his workplace gets fired. So he has to stay late. He calls her and tells her he'll be running late but he'll be at her house by 7:30 at the latest.
Wrong. He doesn't even leave work til 7:30. He is worried because they have reservations, her parents are meeting them, etc.
He calls her and she is super upset. She had a patient die at work, he is running late, she can't find the outfit she wants to wear. She told me she was pretty much having the worst day she'd had in a long time. She ends up crying on the phone about how she is upset about today, doesn't want to go, and he should have called and changed the reservations when he knew he was going to be late.
So, he gets off work and drives like a bat out of hell to go home, get ready, pick her up, and pick up her parents. He gets to her house (they are late for the show at this point) and she is NOT READY. She is still halfway in her work clothes, crying about her terrible day and asking if they can just do this some other day. He says NO WE HAVE TO GO TODAY because it's the last night of this show and I invited Couple Friends from out of town (lie).
So she's like "OMG Mike seriously, i'm not going. Call and tell them we'll go to the next showing this weekend." He says "I can't." Back and forth ensues and they both get annoyed. He tells her to just throw something nice on and go. She agrees (not happy).
The whole way there, she reminds him of how she just had a patient die today, she doesn't have time, she's so tired, and he should've been on time. To the point of an almost argument.
They FINALLY get to dinner theater at 8:45! She (still annoyed) is like "WTF are my parents doing here? What is going on?" when they pull up in the parking lot. He says he just happened to mention it to them at family dinner last week and they just decided they'd come.
They get there in the middle of the show. Dinner is not really warm. She is still annoyed but happy to see her family. At the end of the night he tells her "there's a reason why I INSISTED on coming here even when you didn't want to." She says "why" and he proposes!
For the record, she says she cried and apologized the whole way home for her attitude because she admits that she was really bitchy to him that day. lol.
