No, your sorority is not the only sorority that does that; and the NIC fraternities are not the only fraternities that do that.
It is not a campus thing, a council/conference things, or a particular sorority/fraternity thing. It is a "who wants to put their founding year on some paraphernalia" thing and even newer GLOs do that.
