Here's a long one!

My sister, real one was sick last year. She had gotten ecoli from a hamburger...

I was at Convention and had to leave early, long story I got sick......but thank God I did. I got home and that night I went to my sister's b/c she said she was going to bed early. Well, I'm the only one with a key to her house.

So my parents come over and get my 4 year old niece calmed down and go with my sister to the hospital while I wait at home with an upset 4 year old.

Well, cutting to the good stuff. The doctor's want to wait to see how she does overnight. I go to yell at someone, b/c I have a degree in Hospitality...many food borne illness courses, enough to know what is happening....not the freaking flu like they think!

I call a doctor that we know, he comes and sees her. They too want to wait...she starts losing her Blood Pressure.....pumped her full of fluids....wait.....wait...her belly looks like shes 8 months pregant....still they refuse to do surgery.

She developed a blood issue, her blood cells were exploding...no oxygen to her organs....they begin to shut down...kindeys....and so on....Guess what ecoli!

Fly her to Duke, where we had to sign papers that said it was too risky to move her but had no choice....sat in Duke SICU for 7 days....no changes....checked for brain actvity, had 2 doctor's from the CDC working with her....gave her less than 20%.

Eighth day, she woke up. Like that. Nothing wrong. She wanted some food, was hungry from not eating!

Let me tell you...my whole family has changed and for the better. We all live in the same town and see each other all the time!

Moral of the story, don't eat burgers meduim well!
