There have been some threads on here indicating that the music sorority Sigma Alpha Iota holds that policy (at least on some campuses). But I'm too lazy to find them at the moment.

Just because an org draws its members from a certain major or interest area doesn't mean it's not social in nature. Look at Triangle or FarmHouse - both NIC fraternities that limit membership to, respectively, engineers and ag majors. And there is also Ceres, another agriculture-oriented sorority.

If Ceres grows, or SAI ever decides to pursue membership in NPC, they will however face an obstacle that the NIC groups don't, namely, formal rush. Can you imagine all the tone-deaf types being bored at an SAI party - and the SAI members being frustrated at the waste of their time and money?
