Hi! There are multiple threads on recruitment for sophomores, including a few at the U of A.
I have first-hand knowledge of the Greek system at U of A. My advice: achieve a STELLAR GPA this year, as high as you possibly can. Get involved on campus with some extracurricular activities. It is a Very Competitive recruitment; 1200 pnms +/- the past couple of years.
Yes, you will need recommendations so get started on that now (there are threads about that as well. In other words, SEARCH function on GreekChat is your new best friend.)
If you keep an open mind, maximize your options, and have the best possible resume/GPA, you will may possibly find a home. I know of a few sophomores who received bids; but realistically, the overwhelming majority of the new members are freshmen. And no, there are no plans for expansion. None. That has been taken off the table for multiple reasons.
(and I think there is a way to delete your other thread with a similar title, but I don't exactly know how to do that.)
