This thread is making my so jealous! I always wanted some kind of pet, but most everyone in my family has allergies, so we never really had a pet (for long). My dad is allergic to most pets. My brother and I were too when we were younger, but for the most part (I think I may be mildly allergic to cats still) we've grown out of it.

We had a lop eared bunny for a little over a year. My dad was doing well with it around the 9 month mark, when he suddenly got really allergic to it. So we had to get rid of him.

His name was Patrick. My brother, who was about 11 or 12 at the time, named him because he was born on St. Patrick's Day. (Or so we estimated...when we got him they said he was 6 weeks old...so we looked back on the calendar 6 weeks and it was St. Patrick's Day!)

Anywho, he was a calico lop eared bunny and he was soooo cute. This is not him, but he looked a LOT like this guy, when he was young:

We have a finished basement, so we kept his home down there. We often let him out so he could run around a little. When we first got him, we would let him out on the tile floor, but he couldn't stand--his feet just slid out from underneath him. It was so cute!

The first instant that I am finally moved out and settled and can handle a pet, fiance and I are getting a dog. I'm so excited! He also wants to get a cat, but I'm nervous I'm going to be allergic to it...and I just can't get a pet and then have to give it away again. Even though my bunny went to a really good home (they had another bunny--don't worry Patrick was fixed!), it was so incredibly sad to let him go.
